Winter break is coming!

“Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a Library card!” I honestly don’t think I will ever forget this famous, and influential song by one of greatest shows of my generation – Arthur.

Used to be my favorite show. Buster Baxter was my favorite character.

Arthur Read was a great young aardvark and while what he said about having fun with library cards is very true, but I think I can one up him. Having fun isn’t hard when you attend Manor College. While Arthur went to the library to read and learn; this semester at Manor I’ve had many awesome learning experiences myself (and not just in the library).

Now that the end of the year is literally right around the corner I can look back and reflect. I can honestly say that this past semester has been the best semester of my short and infamous college career. One of the reasons why is because of my internship here at Manor with the Marketing Communications department. I knew that this internship would be a great experience for me, but this it has been better than what I expected.

I am so grateful to be able to work and learn while also having fun as a intern. I do many things as an intern but one of the best things for me, is that my boss, Kelly, gives me the freedom to be as creative as possible with the projects and responsibilities given to me. I thought I was pretty creative before, but now from what I’ve seen and learned behind the scenes, I feel like my creativity has evolved. I’ve had many chances to explore the creative process of marketing on my own, and also just to be able to watch everyone in the Marketing department do the same is a great learning experience.

Be Creative!

I’ve also learned that it is really important to set goals. I feel like I’ve always been someone who works hard, even though I can be lazy and a major procrastinator, but I also feel like that hard work doesn’t fully get me anywhere worthwhile. Setting goals gives me a long-term vision and short-term motivation. Setting goals has really helped me to focus, and to organize my time and resources so I can make the most of this life given to me. When I am able to achieve these sharp and clearly defined goals I have set, it raises my self-confidence while also motivating me even more. Whenever my sister and I start to complain about anything, whether it’s how tired we are or how bad we don’t want to go to work, we yell this phrase at each other.

I know that’s not correct grammar, but it’s true. The grind doesn’t stop, and these goals that I have set out motivate me to continue to “grind.” So continue to grind Manor, continue to grind everyone else that is reading this. When you achieve those goals that you have set out, it’s one of the best feelings in the world. I’m so glad that I figured this out now (and not later.)

I pray that you all have a fantastic Christmas break, and a Happy New Year! Remember that Christmas is not only about giving to your families, but to also about helping those that are less fortunate.
